Sourceforge is an excellent repository of free software for Windows, Linux, MacOS and even Android. All the software is open source, meaning that the source code is also made available for other programmers to edit. This provides for a collaborative approach to software development.

Agreed. Sourceforge.com is one of if not the best sources for free software you can find on the web.
A large majority of sites out there have a lot of viruses attached to software which is stored on these sites however sourceforge.com has very few viruses. If you are going for free software this is the best place to look.
the differences between system design, software development and programming are more apparent. Already in the current market place there can be found a segregation between programmers and developers..
